Yosemite National Park Elopement with Two Brides

There is something about photographing a national park elopement that gets me so excited! Not only does it mean I get to hang out with some of the coolest couples and document their love story, but I also get to do it in some of the most beautiful places in nature. For their special day, Beatriz and Chelsi held a small outdoor wedding in Yosemite National Park. They invited a handful of their closest friends, and promised their love to each other in one of the country’s most beautiful places!

How Beatriz & Chelsi Decided on a Yosemite National Park Elopement

Beatriz and Chelsi are an adventurous couple who were looking to incorporate their lifestyle into their wedding celebration. They came up with a few ideas on how they could do that, one of them being their location. Both brides wanted their wedding to be special and unique to them. They weren’t interested in holding to lots of traditions which is what brought them to have an outdoor wedding in Yosemite.

When it comes to eloping in Yosemite, there are a few different ceremony locations to choose from. Beatriz and Chelsi chose Tunnel View, an overlook that gives sprawling views of the surrounding meadow with El Capitan rising up in the distance. The hike above Tunnel View is one of my favorite elopement locations in Yosemite and is perfect for small elopement ceremonies as it tends to be more private than some of the other locations.

Beatriz & Chelsi’s Outdoor Wedding Ceremony at Tunnel View

Beatriz and Chelsi’s Yosemite elopement was easy-going, fun, and COLD! Winter in Yosemite is no joke, but these brides were so easygoing and stuck with it, despite the freezing weather.

The couple had chosen a beautiful A-frame cabin near Bass Lake to get ready at and had invited a few of their closest friends to join them. After everyone finished getting ready, I snapped a few detail shots and took individual bridal portraits.

Beatriz and Chelsi wanted to do a first look together so I had to do a little bit of planning to make sure neither one of them saw each other before the big reveal. Once everyone was ready, the brides got into separate cars and headed off to their ceremony site at Tunnel View. With the help of a few friends, they got into place and had their first look at the valley floor below. Their reactions were priceless and I love how they incorporated their own style with matching custom suits!

After their first look and ceremony with emotional vows, we spent the rest of the afternoon exploring the park and taking couples portraits. Never once did it feel like we were on a photo shoot; instead the whole day felt like one big celebration of their love.

One of my favorite parts of the day was toward the evening. The brides and their friends all gathered together to do a toast in the middle of the meadow. Everyone genuinely looked so happy to be celebrating Beatriz and Chelsea’s love and it was an amazing moment to witness!

Beatriz and Chelsi’s national park wedding was such an amazing day! From matching custom suits to being surrounded by their closest friends, these two created a day that was truly their own!

Kind Words from Beatriz & Chelsi

Hiring Will as our photographer for our wedding was hands down the BEST decision we made. Like many other couples we had to adjust our wedding plans due to covid. From our first conversation with Will, he got us very excited about adjusting from a big wedding to an elopement in Yosemite. He knew all the amazing spots in Yosemite for pictures, had great ideas on what items we should bring for props for photos, and most importantly he created a timeline of what they entire day would look like. Will’s communication is so great! We had two zoom calls with him and we went over details of the day of. He checked in with us days before the wedding and anytime we had a question we could text him and he always responded. Will is more than a photographer; he was like our wedding planner. He helped everyone put on their boutonnieres, kept us all on a timeline, and kept me very calm when my wife forgot her dress shirt. He helped her find another shirt and make it look nice. Furthermore, my wife and I wanted to do first look at the wedding site and Will made it happen. He had everything figured out with using different cars and walkie talkies. We got everything we wanted!! Will has an amazing amount of positive energy!! It was absolutely freezing the day we got married and he kept us going and not letting the cold get to us. There were a few moments were my wife and I didn’t want to take anymore photos and Will could feel that energy and he would get us super hyped about the next spot so we would keep going. So grateful he did that, photos are absolutely stunning. He is extremely professional and super down to earth. Throughout the day he would show us sneak peeks at on his camera. Will had our photos back within a month and he surprised us by making a slide show of our wedding. I cry with joy every time I watch it. The photos are truly perfect. Will captured everything we wanted and more. Will is very passionate about his job and it makes the entire experience magical. Seriously don’t think twice about hiring Will. He is so worth it!!!!! We will always refer him to every single one of our friends. We know down the line we will be hiring him again. :)
